Hi all. You know, I really like to be an optimist. I try. Or at least, I tried. Then I joined the Army and learned the folly of that. Most people become hopeless cynics, if not plain old pessimists. Well, I like to call myself a "cynical optimist" and Shanna always gives me a hard time about that. It's like this: I believe that the best that could possibly happen in a given situation could indeed happen- I just doubt that it will until I see it! But I always hold forth the hope that my doubt is proven goundless. Eeyore was like that sometimes. There are several passages where this is shown to be true; he was not always a pessimist completely. I'll share some of them with you over time, but tonight is one of the best examples. More of Eeyore at his best. "Hallo, Eeyore," said Christopher Robin as he opened the door and came out. "How are you?" "It's snowing still," said Eeyore. "So it is." "And freezing." "Is it?" "Yes," said Eeyore. "However," he said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately."
